Hello world!

So this websie is a long time in the making – a very long time really. I’ve been writing software since I first got my hands on a Dragon 32 in 1983 at the age of 10.Dragon 32 home computer Games back then were always very hit and miss, and the hand drawn artwork on the cassette boxes always more exciting than the game contained with in. It wasn’t long before I started writing my own basic BASIC games and I often found games creating more enjoyable than game playing (even though the quality of my games was often questionable!).

Amstrad CPC 464 home computerA couple of years on from the Dragon 32 we moved to the Amstrad CPC, first a 464 and later a 6128. Games were much better during this period but I still continues to produce games in BASIC. I feel the CPC is a much overlooked home computer, particularly when compared with the Commodore 64 and the Sinclair Spectrum.

Moving one from the 8 bit age I moved onto a series of PCs and studied both Computer Studies and Software Engineering at college and then university. I’ve since had a great career in the Software development industry, predominantly in web developement at start-ups and big enterprises. I’m now in a Director role and have very little hands on coding time as part of my job and the combination of this, and the catalyst of the coronavirus lockdown, has led me to look to do some coding again – and my subject of choice – Games!

Udemy 3d Unity CourseSo I have set up this website to act as a showcase for my attempts at getting back into games writing, I’m currently following the Complete C# Unity Developer 3D course on Udemy and will post as I progress. The screenshot at the top of this post is from Terminal Hacker, the first Unity game I produced as part of the course. I later plan to write some of my own games, just for fun and to see where this whole thing ends up 🙂
